ABOUT

Hey there, mama!

I’m Cassandra, a Charlotte Mason homeschooling mom of three who’s saved by grace and fueled by coffee. I write about all-things homeschooling & motherhood. I especially love to share my favorite resources for cultivating a grace-filled and Christ-centered home and homeschool.

I’m doing this whole thing very imperfectly and totally learning as I go, but I do hope that while you’re here, you’ll be encouraged and inspired in your own homeschooling journey!

MY STORY

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

A former missionary to South Sudan, Cassandra is now a Charlotte Mason homeschooling mom of three.
Tonj, South Sudan

A decade ago, if you would’ve told me that I would be a homeschooling mom with three kids, I would have just laughed. I was a public school teacher, not even sure I wanted kids yet and certainly not the type of person who would homeschool them!

But God.

This blog was actually born as a way to document my very first foreign mission trip in 2010. That short-term trip took me to South Sudan, which led my husband and I to move there a few years later as full-time vocational missionaries.

Our oldest son was born there, and after a very turbulent couple of years, we returned to the States and I returned to the public school classroom.

But following Jesus has absolutely transformed my life in the most unexpected ways. He’s always rearranging my priorities, changing the desires of my heart, and giving me the courage to pursue a life that’s beautifully wrecked for the gospel.

After diligently seeking seeking His will for our growing family, God called me out of the classroom and into my home. He also repeatedly affirmed the gentle-but-persistent nudge to step outside of my comfort zone and homeschool our children.

Now I spend my days leading my children through their lessons, leaning on and growing in Jesus, writing here on the blog, and learning as much as I can about Charlotte Mason’s methods for home education — with some nature walks, imperfect clay models, and chaotic morning baskets thrown into the mix.

This life is not at all what younger me imagined, but it is so much better than anything I could have dreamed up for myself. I do hope you’ll stick around and be encouraged in this journey.
